Wanderlost
Wanderlost is a prototype I developed for the Google Daydream that presented players with music-based puzzles using fantastical instruments in a vibrant forest. The prototype focused on a single one of these instruments, a set of vines with flowers that you could shake to ring like bells changing their position on the vine to change their pitch. What we ended up with was a set of puzzles that taught you how to use the instrument and a free play mode that let you loose-play freely. Our composer, Jordan Chin, and I focused on creating a musical background sparse enough to let you fill it in but structured enough so that whatever you played still sounded ‘good.’ What we ended up with was a rhythm-based puzzle that felt good to mess around with and hard to mess up.
